IEEE SoutheastCon 2007 Call for Papers (Technical Conference)
IEEE SoutheastCon is the annual IEEE Region 3 Technical, Professional, and Student Conference. It brings together electrical, computer and other engineering and science professionals, faculty and students to share the latest information through technical sessions, tutorials, and exhibits. It is the most influential conference in Region 3 for promoting awareness of the technical contributions made by our profession to the advancement of engineering and science and to the community. Attendance and technical program participation from areas outside IEEE Region 3 are also cordially encouraged and welcomed. IEEE SoutheastCon 2007 will be held in Richmond, Virginia.
Scope of the Technical Conference:
IEEE SoutheastCon 2007 invites prospective authors to submit their technical work on all aspects of engineering, science, and technology of current interest, to the conference. The conference's technical program includes, but is not limited to:
- Electronic, Electrical, and Computer Engineering
- General Engineering and Industrial Applications
- Education, Technology, and Globalization
- Financial Planning in Engineering Profession
- Engineering in Medicine and Biology
- Intelligent Systems and Control
- Networks and Distributed Systems
- Nanotechnology and Microelectronics
- Circuits and Devices
- Communications and Information Systems
- Computing and Real-Time systems
IEEE SoutheastCon 2007 will feature the presentation of technical papers as well as tutorial sessions and workshops, for which topics of both theory and applications are encouraged.
Technical Paper Submission Instructions:
The submission and review of technical papers for the IEEE SoutheastCon 2007 will be handled by the conference's Paper Submission and Review System, accessible from the web site at http://www.softconf.com/start/secon07/.
The submitted papers must contain original work and must not have been published or presented elsewhere. Both full-length refereed papers and abstracts of unrefereed papers are solicited.
- Submission of papers via the Paper Submission and Review System is due by December 15, 2006. Details including registration of paper information and format of paper are given on the Paper Submission System web site.
- Submission of abstracts is due by December 15, 2006.
- Review of the submitted papers and abstracts will be finished by January 10, 2006 (the review of the submitted abstracts will be done in a simplified way).
- The accepted papers will be allowed a total of six (6) double-column pages for publication, and the accepted abstracts will be allowed for one (1) double-column page.
- Paper certificate and copyright forms will be available to authors by January 15, 2007.
- Final submission of the accepted papers is due in electronic form (.pdf) by January 31, 2007.

Tutorials and Workshops:
Proposals are also invited for tutorials and workshops to be presented at IEEE SoutheastCon 2007. The proposal should include the tutorial or workshop objectives, a brief description (500 words), an outline, proposed length (one-hour, two-hour, or four-hour) and, a short professional resume of the instructor. Please send proposals for tutorials and workshops to the Technical Conference Co-Chair Jan Helge Bøhn at: bohn@ieee.org, by December 15, 2006.
Tutorial and workshop presentation materials (in .pdf or MS PowerPoint format) and handouts (in .pdf, MS Word or MS PowerPoint format) is due by January 31, 2007.

Conference Proceedings:
All papers and abstracts accepted for IEEE SoutheastCon 2007 will be published in the Proceedings of IEEE Southeast Conference 2007 on CD. At least one author must pre-register for the conference, paying the full registration fee, in order to have their paper or abstract included in the CD. A total 6 double-column printed pages are allowed to each paper, and 1 page is allowed for each abstract. A page charge of 50.00 will be applied for each extra page (up to 2 pages for papers and 1 page for abstracts) exceeding the page limit.
Copyright Information:
Submission of a paper, an abstract or other materials to the IEEE Southeast Conference 2007 represents the author's agreement to allow IEEE to publish the paper, abstract or other materials in any written or electronic format for distribution to all interested parties in perpetuity with or without compensation to IEEE and without compensation to the author. The parties understand that the author is granting a nonexclusive license and all copyrights remain the property of the author. A copyright form must be signed by the author for each accepted paper to be published in the conference proceedings.

Registration Information for Authors/Presenters
- To be published at least one author of the paper must register by February 28th at the Author rate ($400 Member/$500 Non-Member).
- There is NO DISCOUNT for Student Authors. Student Authors must also register at the Author rate ($400 Member) to be published.
- Registrations received after February 28th are not guaranteed to be published.
Conference Information for Authors/Presenters
- Authors and Presenters are requested to arrive early for their scheduled presentation.
- Presentation rooms will be supplied with a screen, LCD projector, and a notebook computer with Microsoft® PowerPoint® or the Microsoft® PowerPoint® Viewer.
- The conference proceedings will be loaded on all computers in the presentation rooms..
- All authors are invited to breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning.
